New addition planned for downtown Bettendorf fire station

The downtown fire station would be expanded to provide space for vehicle and equipment storage, administrative offices, as well as additional parking under plans approved by the Bettendorf City Council October 4. The $650,000 new addition will be built on the west side of the existing fire station, and result in the closing of 16th Street south of State Street and the termination of Gilbert Street at 16th Street. The city also acquired a long-vacant gas station on the south side of State Street, west of 16th Street, for use in the fire station expansion.
