Credit union seeks rezoning for 53rd Ave. location

University of Iowa Credit Union plans to build a branch location along 53rd Avenue, Bettendorf, just west of the new McDonald's restaurant.

The credit union received approval for rezoning the land from agriculture to C-5 (office/transitional) zoning from the city's planning and zoning commission last month and the company is expected to get city council approval at its Tuesday (12/16) meeting.

The 1.4-acre parcel abuts a residential subdivision, but it has not triggered the same concern from neighbors that preceded approval of the McDonald's restaurant site development along 53rd Avenue, and adjacent to the residential area.

With approval of the credit union plans, only one lot in the commercially zoned southwest corner of 53rd Ave. and 18th St. would remain undeveloped.
