An angel atop the Abby Hotel in Bettendorf overlooks the community. The former monastery has a commanding view of the Mississippi River and its chapel has become a popular wedding location in recent years.
The Bettendorf High School Goldusters perform during a recent boys basketball game. The high school dance group won statewide honors in recent competition and are regular performers during half time at the school athletic games.
The unseasonably warm weather this December provides golfers, not sledders, with the opportunity to get in a few more rounds on the city's Palmer Hills Golf Course. Only a trace of snow has been received locally so far this December.

Both the Bettendorf boys and girls teams defeated their Assumption opponents in MAC action Friday, Dec. 7. The boys varsity record is 1-1 after an opening season loss to Cedar Rapids Washington. The Bulldogs rallied from an early deficit to the Knights and then held off a late surge by Assumption to net the first MAC victory.
