Hundreds of father, mothers, boys and girls took to the baseball diamonds this week as tryouts for the Bettendorf-Pleasant Valley Youth Baseball program got under way. The tryouts for the Pinto, Mustang, Bronco and Pony leagues aren't to limit players, but evaluate players according to their abilities for equal distribution and equal competition among the dozens of the teams. The youth baseball season is to begin later this month despite the colder-than-usual spring weather.
