Google adds street views of QCA

The Google-mobile must have cruised through the Quad Cities last fall judging from the street-view images of Bettendorf/Davenport now appearing on Google Maps.

The Google camera-car imaged most of the main streets in town including Devils Glen, 53rd Ave., Middle, Crow Creek, State/Grant, Valley Drive, Kimberly Road and parts of 18th Street. CLICK HERE for the image of I-74 and downtown Bettendorf.

Street-view images on Google Maps have been around for some time, but most were on maps of major metropolitan areas. Now Google has built out the images and not just mid-sized cities like the QCA. Even street views of small towns are now showing up on Google Maps.

Google to open AdWords network to third-party ad networks

Google announced last week it will incorporate third-party ads/advertisers into its popular AdWords placement program.

The third-party sites will compete with the AdWords network to help web publishers, in theory, to maximize revenue from ads placed on their sites. Only "Google certified" networks will be able to feed into AdWords and web publishers can choose to opt out of using any or all of the third-party ads/advertisers.

Last year Google purchased DoubleClick, the largest online ad serving network, and some fear Google's dominance among ad placement networks will eventually lead to less competition and lower prices for ads placed on publisher sites.
