Steel framework adds shape to new HyVee Store

Bettendorf advances to state football semis with 22-12 win

The Bettendorf Bulldogs punched their ticket to the state 4A football semi-finals with a 22-12 win over Iowa City High Monday night (11/6).

Bettendorf stormed back from a 12-0 deficit to win its 10th game of the season and advance to a Friday night (11/10) semi-final contest at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. The Bulldogs scored just before the half ended to cut the deficit to 12-7 and then blanked the Little Hawks in the second half while scoring twice, including a two-point conversion.

The 69-yard drive just before the half turned the game around for Bettendorf on offense, and the Bulldog shutdown the Little Hawks the final two quarters.

Col. Davenport House along Mississippi River



The Col. Davenport House on Arsenal Island appears much the way it did when the Davenport city founder and fur trader lived there in the 1800's. The house is open for tours from May through October. Bulldogs advance; North Scott upended in 4A playoffs

Bettendorf rebounded from last week's loss to North Scott with a 39-13 win over Muscatine in the first round of the 4A football playoffs.

The Bulldogs will face Iowa City High next Monday (Nov. 6) in Iowa City. The Little Hawks upset unbeaten and number one ranked North Scott, 28-7. The Lancers were coming off a 17-0 victory over Bettendorf last week to win the MAC title.

Walls going up for Bettendorf's new Armstrong Elementary



Workers lay brick for the walls of the new Armstrong Elementary School as work progresses on the nearly $9 million facility. The two-story, two-section building is expected to be ready for the start of school next fall. For additional photos, click on the "Read More" link below.

BHS band highlights annual Halloween Parade



The trombone section leads the BHS Marching Band in the annual Bettendorf Halloween Parade Saturday night (10/30). Band members dressed in their Halloween costumes for the parade, which drew a sizeable number of political candidates as the November 7 election approaches.
